Let me give you a few tips on how to install tile floor. There are five steps that must to be followed in installing tile floor.The first step will be to prepare the base floor. The kitchen floor needs to be cleaned of all wax, grease, oil and stain with a good cleaner. It is highly recommended to use a good quality, environmental friendly cleaner for the cleaning process. For those who have a wooden base floor, it must be made smooth by removing any uneven parts and any sort of loose boards on the floor should be properly tightened.
The technique in installing tile floor starts with laying the floor from the center of the room. The measure of the room must be done accurately and any irregularities should be avoided. The center location on the floor needs to be marked correctly using a chalk line. Lines should be drawn across the length and breadth of the room and the area where the lines intersect will be mark as the center. Recheck the position of the center mark because it is very important when installing tile floor.
The second step is to place the tile from the center along the marked chalk lines. After placing the tiles, measure the distance of the last tile from the wall. It will give you a proper picture of the size of the last tile that should be placed to finish the row. Once you visualize the area being placed by tiles, you can now estimate the number of tiles required to complete the entire room.
The third step will be to place various color tiles at different locations according to your own preference. Open the boxes and place the tiles at the exact spots on the floor. Now, start applying the adhesives on one-fourth of the floor area and wait for a while. It generally takes about 10-15 minutes for the adhesive to dry before you can start installing those tiles. However, the time may depend on the temperature and humidity.
Begin placing the tiles along lines starting from the center of the floor. Just remember, place the first tile correctly since it is very important and it will also determine the finish. Place each tile tightly on the ground and also to its neighboring tile. This will ensure a good finish. The border tile needs to be cut correctly to give a perfect finishing to the room. When fitting a tile along a pipe or any other obstruction, just simply cut the tile into that shape so that it fits exactly into that position. Do not wash the tiles at least one week after installing it.
